Stories from Beth Finch – West Warrington Youth for Christ

“It can sometimes be hard as a Youth for Christ worker to not always see ‘instant results’ of your work. Most of the time we pray and believe that in what we plant that God will bring the increase:

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”

-1 Corinthians 3:7

There is a young person I have been working with through my after school club who came along for the fun and food and didn’t really have much interest in talking about God. She would politely nod along to the talk and listen well, but still didn’t seem to spark much interest in knowing Jesus personally – That’s when I turned to praying.

Move along a few months and I heard from a Christian friend of hers that she met Jesus in her bedroom one night and dedicated her life to him. I was overjoyed God has answered my prayers and I talked to her about this decision and what it meant to her. She now has a bible and friends around her who encourage her too in her faith. But not always do we get to see the fruit of the seeds sown and not always will be we the one who waters it. But situations like this brings me hope that no matter where in the process, Jesus has invited you to be a part of someones story. And in someone’s story you can make a difference and bring them closer to knowing him.

So I want to encourage you that in all you do whether you pray for, financially support, volunteer with us or partner with us, you are a part of a big story in the lives of young people and bringing them closer to knowing the life changing love of Jesus. To that we say thank you and although you too may not always see the results, one day you will see their faces in Heaven.”
